Gail and Domhnall celebrated their wedding in style with lots of traditional Irish aspects blended seamlessly with more on trend details. Dating for just over 7 years Gail and Domhnall had a big guestlist for their celebration (200!) and they made sure each and every one had an unforgettable time at their classic Dromoland Castle wedding
Gail and Domhnall met, like many of us, in a good ole fashioned Irish pub in Co.Clare. Gail was (and is!) a good friend of Domnall’s little brother Diarmuid and from the minute Domhnall introduced the pair sparks flew. As Gail lived in Clare, and Domnall Dublin the next year and a half consisted of lots of trips back and forth until Gail made the move to Dublin.
When it came time to propose, Domhnall decided to go for all out classic romance and planned a surprise trip for Gail to Paris. Now I know for lots this might be a clear signal of an upcoming proposal but luckily for Gail this wasn’t out of the norm as Domhnall often plans little trips away (what a keeper!) The only problem was getting a sparkling engagement ring through airport security without Gail noticing… “Domhnall proposed in Paris after bringing me away on a surprise weekend way(getting an engagement ring onto a Ryanair flight is not easy he told me!), not unusual for Domhnall to organise a surprise weekend away and Paris is one of our favourite destinations. So I had no idea a proposal was on the way. He popped the question on the bridge of locks in Paris on our second day, with me bursting into tears for the following 20mins! It was so romantic and wonderful having the following few days together to enjoy being on cloud 9 together.”
When it came to picking a venue Gail and Domhnall were enamoured by Dromoland Castle from the moment they arrived for their initial viewing. Gail and Domhnall wanted somewhere relaxed where all of their friends and family could have a great day, enjoy good food and celebrate. A fabulous Irish castle with lots of room to fit all 200 guests plus a lovely team – Dromoland Castle fitted the bill.

- Mostly opting for a low key and relaxed vibe, the glamour of this wedding comes from Gail’s a-m-a-zing bridal look. Channelling Daisy in The Great Gatsby Gail donned a fabulous embellished dress with a cut-away back design from Irish designer Patrick Casey, accessorised with a 1920s-inspired juliet cap veil and headpiece from Jules Bridal Jewellery. Gail looks so glamourous but in a soft and pretty way with her lightly curled hair and dewy makeup working perfectly to make sure the look doesn’t seem OTT.
- The magician, Andy James, worked a treat for young and not so young alike and for everyone else there was plenty of bubbly and live music in the garden from The Bentley Boys.
- Golf lover Domhnall used the Dromoland golf course on the morning of the wedding to pot a few holes and relax, and he seems to do a bit of temporary graffiti (or some other talented family member or friend perhaps?) Either way love Domnhall’s Happy Socks!
- After the wedding ceremony was over, the vows made and rings exchanged, it was time for… a quick wedding day selfie!
- surrounded by Clare’s amazing natural scenery Gail and Domhnall took advantage of the beautiful weather courtesy of the helpful Child Of Prague, no doubt, several of whom they had buried all over the country. A real Irish tradition (that I myself only found out about only last week!) it’s said if you bury a Child Of Prague statue the night before your wedding you will be blessed with good weather. Seemed to work for them anyway, because it’s rare to see the cliffs in Clare looking so glossy.
- A pair of sweethearts Gail and Domhnall have some words of wisdom if your in the midst of planning your own dream day “Relax and enjoy every second of the wedding as it really does fly by – as everyone says. Organise properly and on the day of the wedding everything will just flow. For the bride – enjoy the night before and morning of with friends and family. I thoroughly enjoyed friends and family coming to the room the morning of the wedding where I had organised coffee, fruit, Danishes and Prosecco (which Domhnall delivered as a surprise) and plenty orange juice for whoever popped their heads in. Also, a quick morning run with a close friend to clear my head and set me up for the day!”
