January Hand Fasting Wedding Ceremony In The Barn next to the Sea, First Look On Top of the Cliffs of Moher , Doolin Hotel and Muddy Dress …

By MrsRedHead In Weddings

We wanted the day to be so relaxing and entirely us.  We were both born in the West Coast of Ireland, love living by the sea and felt that Doolin really encapsulated that for us.

Videographer : Olga from SeaForest Films

Venue : Hotel Doolin

Olga was not only a master behind the camera but also a true professional.

Both of the Olgas (including Sea Forest Films) were a breath of fresh air to our day. We were both a little nervous in the beginning but they both soon put us to ease and ensured we got the wedding photos and video of dreams! I really think everyone needs both Olgas in their lives. Super hype girls!!

There was no pressure during the shooting, the girls made us laugh so much, while keeping us on our toes! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts …

We wish we could do it all over again? Reunion anyone?

Hotel Doolin ticked all the boxes for us.

We knew we wanted to get married on the West Coast
of Ireland. We are both from seaside towns, lived on the coast in Galway city together and we
got engaged on the cliffs in Louisburgh on January morning.
We knew we wanted to have the ceremony and celebration in one location, but in a really cool
location.

That’s Doolin. Shortly after we got engaged, we went down for a look to the wedding
fair. Immediately we fell in love and went home with a wedding date for the following January,
getting married a year exactly to the weekend we got engaged! Coincidence? I think fate!

Having our family and friends say our readings, playing the music for us was so special. We
came across the song ‘January Wedding, by the Avett Brothers. It will always remind us of the
day and it being played by some of our best friends and adored family. In fact, people thought
the song was composed by Gar’s family for the weekend hahah! It was important that we had all
our siblings and parents involved. Eimear’s Dad walked her up the aisle, Eimear’s brothers
reading, Gareth’s sisters and his Dad and our friends on the music, our friends and family in the
handfastening, our gorgeous little nieces as our flowergirls and our very best friends in the
entire world as our Bridesmaids and Groomsmen.

Our ceremony and entire day was so perfect and personal to us, filled with music, laughter and
love! We got the most unseasonably beautiful day in middle of January. What was so special for
us was having our first look, before the ceremony on top of the Cliffs of Moher.

We got the most
amazing, in the moment photos and video. Its so so special for us to have this moment captured.
The sun shone all day which made for the most beautiful photos and an people having drinks
outdoors at the reception! We never wanted it to end.

The priority for us is that the whole day envisaged us as a couple. We wanted to be able to drink it all up and not get caught up the stress and chaos of how wedding days can be. Having the first look on the Cliffs of Moher on a beautiful sunny morning was heaven on earth. We both felt so present and happy, it was so beautiful. It was meant to be.

We both felt at such ease that morning, maybe a few little nerves, but just having a lovely slow start to the morning was so important to us. Having the ceremony and wedding party in one place made this possible for us. Hotel Doolin is the dream location, the team and suppliers are exceptional. We only wish we could do it all again. Reunion anyone?

We met at the age of 12, in secondary school and were friends for years. It wasn’t until towards the end of school that we started hanging out a bit more and chatting alone. Thanks to a helpful nudge from our friend Sarah, she planted the seed that we would be good together and perhaps go to the Debs together. Gar asked, Eimear said yes and the rest is history! We’ve been each others best friends and loves ever since.

How did the proposal go, if there was one?

This is a good one! So, Gar had the ring for a few months apparently, seemingly buying it the day after he had laser eye surgery (bold move). The plan was Old Head Cliffs, Louisburgh on New Years Day. As luck would have it, Eimear woke up that morning really sick and the plan was halted, despite the not so subtle suggestions by family members to go for a walk on the beach!

A couple of weeks passed and we went on this walk as we have done many times before. Eimear was walking ahead, Gareth was trailing behind suspiciously. Eimear turned around to see Gar down on knee in the same place he asked her to go to the Debs with him 13.5 years earlier, back to where it all began. A passerby out for his walk watched the proposal happen and even managed to grab a few pictures! It was absolutely perfect, back in one of our favourite places. We quickly raced home to both our families to share the great news and we celebrated together that evening! The ring was perfect, chosen by Gar, timeless, classic!
